The story behind the book
Discover the passion and history woven into every page of CargoStudiosBook. From the iconic bands to the hidden gems, delve into the legacy of a legendary recording studio.

A magical place, a personal journey
Author Chris Connelly recalls his inspiration to write the book. 'Cargo was the first studio I ever entered, and it held a truly magical aura. It was during the sessions for The Chameleons' 'Script of the bridge' LP that I first experienced its unique atmosphere. Owner John used to pin the sleeves of records recorded there on, the wall, and seeing so many familiar records really brought it home what a special place it was.'
The studio was high-tech for its time, boasting AMS delays, echo plates, and other gadgets beloved by producers. However, it was the people who truly made Cargo what it was. John Brierley had a profound understanding of sound and a welcoming attitude towards everyone who walked through the studio's doors.'

Beyond the icons: uncovering hidden musical treasures
The book not only details the well-known artists who entered the studio, such as The Fall, Joy Division, OMD, and Felt, but also features bands who came in to record demos and one or two singles. Prepare to discover some truly amazing singles by Exit, The Last Chant, Pullovers, Past Seven Days, Ex Post Facto, and many more lesser known gems.
